Senior Photography FAQ
When should I book my senior session?
We recommend reserving your senior portrait experience as early as possible, especially if you want a specific season, weekend date or outdoor look. Fall dates can fill quickly. Booking early also gives us time to plan clothing, locations and personal details without racing against yearbook, graduation or announcement deadlines.
What should I wear for senior pictures?
Wear clothing that feels like you rather than buying an entirely new personality for picture day. We recommend bringing variety, such as a casual outfit, a more polished look and something connected to your interests or activities. Depending on your selected experience, multiple outfits may be included. We will help you plan colors, layers and clothing choices that photograph well.
Do you help me pose?
Absolutely. You do not need modeling experience or a secret collection of poses saved on your phone. We guide you through body position, hands, expression and movement throughout the session. Our goal is to create portraits that look confident and natural without making you feel stiff or overly posed.
Can we use multiple locations?
Depending on the senior experience you select, we can incorporate different locations and looks. We will help choose locations based on your style, clothing, interests, the season and the overall feel you want from your portraits. Chattanooga and the surrounding area give us plenty of options for urban, natural and more traditional settings.
Can I include sports, hobbies, instruments or my car?
Yes. We encourage seniors to incorporate meaningful parts of their lives into their portraits. That might include a sport, uniform, instrument, dance, artwork, books, a vehicle, a pet or another activity that has helped define your high school years. We can plan these elements before the session so they feel intentional rather than randomly thrown into a photograph.
Do you offer studio senior portraits?
Yes. Matt & Shea Photography offers studio senior portraits as well as outdoor and on-location options. Depending on your selected experience, we can combine different environments to give your final collection more variety.
How long does a senior portrait session take?
Session length depends on the senior experience you select. Some experiences are designed for a focused collection of portraits, while larger experiences allow more time for additional outfits, locations and variety. We do not treat senior portraits like an assembly line, so the experience is planned around what we are creating rather than trying to rush everyone through the same routine.
Can my parents come to my senior session?
Absolutely. Parents are welcome, and they can be extremely helpful with clothing, hair and the little details that are easy to miss. We also know when it is time to let the senior have some space so we can capture genuine expressions instead of the face teenagers occasionally reserve specifically for their parents.
Can you provide an image for my yearbook?
In most cases, yes. Tell us your school's yearbook requirements and deadline before your session. Schools can have different specifications for crop, orientation, background and file delivery, so knowing those requirements ahead of time helps us plan appropriately.
When will we see our senior portraits?
After your session, your photographs are professionally prepared for your viewing and ordering experience. Our standard editing turnaround is approximately seven business days. We will then help you choose your favorite images and decide which professional prints, wall art, albums, keepsakes or digital options are right for you.
Do you photograph seniors from schools outside Chattanooga?
Yes. We serve seniors throughout Chattanooga, Hixson, Ooltewah, East Brainerd, East Ridge, Red Bank, Signal Mountain, Soddy-Daisy, Harrison, Apison, Collegedale, Cleveland and nearby North Georgia communities including Ringgold and Fort Oglethorpe.
How do I reserve my senior session?
