David & Chelsea's Wedding Day

David and Chelsea’s wedding at the Ringgold Legacy Hall was a beautiful reminder that intimate weddings can be just as powerful as grand celebrations. Surrounded by heartfelt moments, timeless details, and genuine emotion, their day was a true reflection of love done right. Join us as we share highlights from their Ringgold, Georgia wedding and the moments that made it unforgettable.

Some weddings are big and bold. Others are intimate, heartfelt, and focused on what truly matters. David and Chelsea’s wedding day at the Ringgold Legacy Hall was the perfect example of the latter—and honestly, those are some of our favorites.

Nestled in the heart of Ringgold, this charming chapel set the tone for a wedding day that was all about love, commitment, and meaningful moments shared with close family and friends.

A Ceremony Full of Heart

From the moment Chelsea walked down the aisle, it was clear this day was deeply personal. The chapel’s warm, classic setting created an intimate atmosphere where every glance, smile, and tear mattered.

David’s reaction when he first saw Chelsea? One of those moments photographers live for. No staging. No rushing. Just genuine emotion—and that’s where the magic happens.

Classic Details, Timeless Style

Chelsea’s look was effortlessly elegant, perfectly suited to the traditional charm of the chapel. David complemented her style with a clean, classic look that will age beautifully in photos for decades to come (future-proof wedding vibes = always a win).

The Ringgold Legacy Hall’s architecture and soft interior light gave us the perfect backdrop for timeless portraits—proof that you don’t need over-the-top décor when the love story is this strong.

Portraits That Tell the Story

After the ceremony, we captured portraits that reflected who David and Chelsea truly are—relaxed, connected, and completely in the moment. The surrounding Ringgold area offered just enough variety to create a gallery that feels both romantic and authentic.

This is what we aim for with every wedding we photograph:
not just pretty images, but images that feel like you.

Why We Love Ringgold Legacy hall Weddings

The Ringgold Legacy Hall is ideal for couples who want:

  • An intimate, traditional ceremony

  • A stress-free wedding day timeline

  • A meaningful experience over a massive production

It’s a reminder that weddings don’t have to be complicated to be unforgettable.

Congratulations, David & Chelsea

Why Patience Matters During Child and Toddler Photography Sessions

Photographing children and toddlers requires patience, understanding, and flexibility. Learn how slowing down during Chattanooga photography sessions leads to authentic smiles, genuine interactions, and timeless family memories.

Photographing children and toddlers is unpredictable — and that’s what makes it so special. Children are full of energy, emotion, and personality, which can’t always be scheduled or posed. That’s why patience during children’s photography sessions is key to capturing authentic, meaningful moments.

Why Patience Matters in Child Photography

Toddlers and young children often move, get distracted, or act out during photo sessions. This isn’t a problem — it’s normal behavior. Photographing toddlers requires patience so they feel safe and relaxed. When children are given space and time, their true personalities shine, resulting in more genuine, memorable images.

Children Aren’t Being Difficult — They’re Being Themselves

A child may refuse to smile, a toddler may run off, or a baby may need a feeding. These moments are part of a natural session and can create some of the most heartfelt photographs. Patient child photography lets kids warm up to the camera and allows photographers to capture authentic expressions.

The Dangers of Rushing a Session

When children are rushed or forced into poses, tension appears in photos. Stiff smiles and forced behaviors are common. Slowing down during children’s photography allows kids to relax and feel confident, producing images that capture true emotion and connection.

Building Trust During Toddler Photography

Every child is different. Some children adapt quickly, while others need more time to feel comfortable. A patient approach helps build trust, leading to:

  • Natural smiles

  • Genuine interactions with family

  • Comfortable, relaxed body language

Trust is the foundation of a successful child or toddler photography session.

Capturing Real Moments, Not Perfection

The best photos often come from in-between moments — a spontaneous laugh, a quiet cuddle, or a look of curiosity. Child photography that focuses on patience allows photographers to document real, authentic moments that families will treasure forever.

Tips for Parents During a Toddler Photography Session

Parents can help sessions run smoothly by:

  • Allowing breaks for snacks or comfort

  • Encouraging movement instead of stillness

  • Embracing play instead of posed smiles

  • Letting children express emotions naturally

The more relaxed everyone is, the more natural and meaningful the photographs will be.

Why Patience Produces Better Photos

Patience creates the space needed for children to feel at ease. When children are calm and comfortable, photographers can capture:

  • Genuine smiles and laughter

  • Meaningful interactions between siblings and parents

  • The little details that make childhood special

These authentic photos become timeless memories that families cherish for years.

Final Thoughts on Patience in Child Photography

Children don’t need to be posed perfectly — they need to feel understood and supported. Being patient during children and toddler photography sessions ensures photos are real, joyful, and reflective of each child’s personality.

A relaxed, flexible, and child-led approach is the key to creating images that will be treasured for a lifetime.

The Importance of Newborn Photography in Chattanooga: Preserving the Moments That Pass Too Quickly

The newborn stage passes quickly. Chattanooga newborn photography helps preserve your baby’s earliest moments through calm, timeless images you’ll treasure for years to come.

The newborn stage is fleeting.

In the blink of an eye, tiny fingers stretch out, sleepy yawns disappear, and your baby begins to change day by day. Those first weeks are beautiful, exhausting, and emotional — and they pass faster than most parents ever expect.

That’s why newborn photography is so important. It allows you to pause time, even briefly, and preserve a season of life that will never come again.

Why Newborn Photography Matters

Newborn photography isn’t just about adorable photos — it’s about memory preservation.

During the early weeks of parenthood, everything can feel like a blur. Sleep is scarce, days blend together, and moments you swear you’ll never forget can quietly fade with time.

Professional newborn photography captures:

  • Tiny details like fingers, toes, and eyelashes

  • The way your baby curls naturally in your arms

  • The quiet connection between parents and their newborn

These images become visual memories — reminders of how small, new, and loved your baby was at the very beginning.

The Value of Professional Newborn Photography

While phone photos are meaningful, professional newborn photography offers something deeper and more lasting.

A professional Chattanooga newborn photographer understands:

  • How to work safely and gently with newborns

  • How to use soft light to create calm, timeless images

  • How to guide parents into natural, comfortable poses

The result is a collection of images that feel peaceful, emotional, and authentic — photographs that grow more meaningful with every year that passes.

Newborn Photography Is About Connection, Not Perfection

Many parents worry they won’t feel “camera-ready” after giving birth. That’s completely normal — and completely okay.

Newborn photography is not about perfection. It’s about connection.

You don’t need to look or feel a certain way. You simply need to show up as you are. The quiet moments — holding your baby close, soothing them, resting your cheek against their head — are the moments that matter most.

Those are the memories worth preserving.

When Is the Best Time for Newborn Photography?

The ideal time for newborn photography is typically within the first 7–14 days after birth. During this window, babies are sleepier and more naturally curled, making it easier to capture those soft, peaceful images.

That said, every baby and family is different. Whether your session happens early or a bit later, the goal remains the same: to document your baby honestly, safely, and lovingly.

Choosing a Chattanooga Newborn Photographer

When searching for newborn photography in Chattanooga, it’s important to choose a photographer whose style and approach align with your values.

Look for someone who:

  • Prioritizes safety and comfort

  • Uses a calm, baby-led approach

  • Focuses on natural, timeless imagery

Your newborn photographer should create an environment where you feel relaxed and supported — because that feeling will carry through to your photos.

Newborn Photos Become Family Heirlooms

Newborn photos are not just for today.

They become part of your family’s story — images you’ll revisit during milestones, share with your child as they grow, and someday pass down. They remind you of where your journey began and how deeply loved your baby was from the very start.

Newborn photography is an investment in memory, connection, and legacy.

Final Thoughts on Newborn Photography in Chattanooga

The newborn stage doesn’t last long, but photographs give it permanence.

If you’re expecting or welcoming a new baby, consider newborn photography as a way to honor this season — not just for yourself, but for your child and your family’s future.

Because one day, these images will mean more than you can imagine.

Wedding Photography: Capturing Real Moments, Emotion, and Timeless Memories

Wedding photography is about more than how your day looked — it’s about how it felt. This Chattanooga wedding photography guide explores candid moments, emotional storytelling, and timeless images.

Wedding photography is about more than documenting a ceremony and reception — it’s about preserving emotion, connection, and the fleeting moments that make your wedding day uniquely yours.

Your wedding day will move quickly. Long before you realize it, the dress will be hung back up, the music will fade, and the day will live on through memories and photographs. That’s why choosing the right wedding photographer matters.

What Is Wedding Photography Really About?

At its core, wedding photography is storytelling.

It’s not just about how your wedding looked it’s about how it felt. The nervous excitement while getting ready, the quiet glances during the ceremony, the joy and chaos on the dance floor these moments deserve to be captured honestly.

A thoughtful wedding photographer focuses on:

  • Real emotions

  • Meaningful interactions

  • The moments happening between the planned events

Those are the images couples return to again and again.

Why Candid Wedding Photography Matters

While posed portraits are important, candid wedding photography often becomes the most cherished part of a wedding gallery.

Candid images capture:

  • Genuine laughter and tears

  • Unscripted reactions

  • Natural connection between couples and their loved ones

By allowing moments to unfold naturally, couples can stay present on their wedding day instead of worrying about the camera. The result is wedding photos that feel authentic, emotional, and timeless.

“We’re Awkward in Photos” — A Common Wedding Photography Concern

Many couples worry they aren’t “photogenic.” The truth is, you don’t need to know how to pose to have beautiful wedding photos.

A professional wedding photographer will:

  • Offer gentle guidance when needed

  • Create space for natural interaction

  • Help you feel comfortable and confident

The best wedding photos don’t come from perfect posing — they come from being fully present with each other.

Wedding Photography as a Lasting Investment

Wedding photos become more valuable with time.

Years from now, they will remind you of:

  • The people who celebrated with you

  • The emotions you felt on that day

  • The beginning of your marriage

Wedding photography isn’t just for today — it’s an heirloom you’ll pass down, a visual record of your story.

How to Choose the Right Wedding Photographer

When searching for a wedding photographer, it’s important to look beyond aesthetics.

Consider:

  • Their storytelling approach

  • How they capture emotion

  • Whether their style aligns with your vision

Your photographer will be present during intimate moments of your wedding day. Choosing someone you trust ensures your photos reflect your experience honestly and beautifully.

Final Thoughts on Wedding Photography

Wedding photography is about preserving moments that would otherwise fade with time. It’s about documenting love, connection, and the people who matter most — exactly as they are.

When you look back at your wedding photos, you shouldn’t just see what your day looked like.

You should remember how it felt.

What You Should Be Looking for In a Newborn Photographer…

Let’s be real—your baby will only be this tiny once. Blink and suddenly they’re asking for snacks and Wi-Fi. So yeah… choosing the right newborn photographer matters. A lot.

Here’s what you should actually be looking for (and what most people forget to ask about).

1. Safety Comes First. Always.

If safety isn’t their top priority, run. 🚩

A professional newborn photographer should:

• Be trained in newborn posing

• Support baby’s head and neck at all times

• Use safe, composite techniques for advanced poses

• Keep hands nearby even when “hands-free” poses appear

Your baby isn’t a prop. They’re precious cargo.

2. Experience With Real Babies

Instagram makes it look easy. It’s not.

Newborns:

• Get gassy

• Have accidents (yes… everywhere)

• Need feeding breaks

• Get overstimulated

An experienced photographer knows how to:

✔ Read baby cues

✔ Soothe and settle

✔ Work around feeding schedules

✔ Keep sessions calm and stress-free

This is NOT the time for someone “trying something new.”

3. Studio Environment Matters

Ask yourself:

Is it warm?

Is it clean?

Is everything sanitized?

A pro studio should include:

• Sanitized props & blankets

• Temperature control

• Calm lighting

• White noise or soothing sounds

Comfort = sleepy baby = magic photos.

4. Editing Style You Actually Love

Every photographer edits differently.

Look for:

• Soft skin tones

• Natural colors

• No over-smoothing

• No weird orange babies 😅

Scroll their portfolio. If you love every image, you’re in the right place.

5. Clear Process & Communication

You shouldn’t be guessing.

Your photographer should clearly explain:

• What to bring

• How long sessions take

• What happens if baby is fussy

• Turnaround time

• Pricing (no surprise invoices, please)

If they ghost you… that’s your sign.

6. Heirloom Products > Digital Files

Hot take:

Your photos deserve better than your phone camera roll.

Look for photographers who offer:

• Professional prints

• Albums

• Wall art

• Keepsake boxes

Because these images?

They’re your baby’s first legacy.

7. Someone You Actually Trust

You’re handing them:

• Your brand-new baby

• Your emotions

• Your memories

If you don’t feel comfortable… don’t book.

Vibe check matters.

Energy matters.

Trust your gut.

Final Thoughts

A newborn photographer isn’t just taking pictures.

They’re:

• Preserving memories

• Freezing time

• Creating heirlooms

• Honoring your family story

Choose someone who treats it like the responsibility it is.

Because one day…

This tiny baby will be taller than you.

And these photos?

They’ll mean everything.

Hey there, lovely new parents! 🎉 First off, a huge congratulations on welcoming your adorable little bundle of joy into the world! As you embark on this exciting and beautiful journey of parenthood, filled with love and countless memories, you might be thinking about capturing those truly precious moments through stunning and heartwarming newborn portraits. Choosing the right photographer is absolutely key to guaranteeing that those cherished memories are beautifully preserved for you and your family to enjoy for many joyful years to come. Here are some practical and helpful tips to assist you in making the right choice for your family as you begin this wonderful adventure!

1. Look for Specialization

Not all photographers are created equal! When it comes to capturing the precious moments of newborn photography, it is essential to look for someone who specializes specifically in this area. Newborns require specific handling techniques and a gentle approach, so a photographer with extensive experience in this particular niche will know exactly how to pose your baby safely and beautifully, ensuring that those fleeting early days are preserved in stunning images for you to cherish forever.

2. Check Their Portfolio

A picture is truly worth a thousand words! It’s essential to take the time to thoroughly review the photographer’s portfolio. Look for consistency in style, lighting, and the overall feel of the photos presented. Are the images warm and inviting, drawing you in with their charm? Do the poses feel natural and comfortable, reflecting genuine emotions? This careful analysis will help you gain a clearer sense of their unique aesthetic and whether it aligns with what you envision for your own memorable photos.

3. Read Reviews and Testimonials

What do other parents have to say about their experiences? It’s always a good idea to check online reviews and testimonials from previous clients to gain a better understanding. This feedback can provide valuable insight into their experience with the photographer. Did they feel comfortable and at ease during the entire shoot? Were they truly happy with the final results they received? Positive feedback and glowing reviews from other parents can be a great indicator of a photographer’s reliability, professionalism, and artistic talent.

4. Meet Them in Person

Once you narrow down your options, take a moment to consider meeting the photographer in person or scheduling a video chat. This is an excellent opportunity for you to gauge their personality and see if you genuinely feel comfortable with them. After all, you want someone who can connect authentically with you and your baby, ensuring that the entire experience is enjoyable, relaxed, and memorable!

5. Discuss Safety Practices

Safety first! Ensure that the photographer has a solid understanding of safety protocols when working with newborns. Ask about their experience with posing infants and if they have a designated space for newborn shoots. A professional will be happy to share their practices and reassure you about your baby’s safety during the session.

6. Understand the Pricing and Packages

Photography can be a significant investment, so it’s very important to fully understand what you’re getting for your hard-earned money. Be sure to ask about their pricing structure in detail and find out what exactly is included in the package you’re considering—such as digital files, high-quality prints, or beautifully crafted albums. Additionally, make sure to clarify any potential extra fees or costs that might arise, so there are no unpleasant surprises later on in the process!

7. Trust Your Instincts

Ultimately, trust your gut! If you feel a connection with the photographer and like their work, that’s a good sign. Choosing someone you feel comfortable with will make the experience much more enjoyable for you and your little one.

Capturing those early moments with your newborn is something you’ll cherish forever. By following these tips, you’ll be well on your way to finding the perfect professional photographer who can help you document this magical time in your life. Happy shooting! 📸

What to Consider When Looking for Your Photographer

Looking for the perfect photographer can be a daunting task. With so many options available, it's important to do your research and find someone who can capture your vision and bring your ideas to life.

As a parent, you know how quickly time flies and how important it is to capture precious moments with your family. Whether it's a milestone birthday, a family vacation, or a simple weekend outing, hiring a professional photographer can help you preserve those memories for a lifetime. But with so many photographers out there, how do you find the perfect one for your family and budget? Here are some things to consider when booking a photographer:

1. Style: Take a look at the photographer's portfolio to see if their style aligns with what you envision for your family photos. Some photographers specialize in candid, natural shots while others prefer posed, formal shots. Make sure you choose a photographer whose style resonates with you. Every photographer has their style, so instead of asking your photographer to mimic a portrait you saw online, let them use that as inspiration instead and create something special and unique for you with that idea in mind. If the photographer’s style is dark and dramatic, and you want light and airy, then that photographer isn’t going to be a very good fit for you. Make sure their style matches the aesthetic of your home so that your portraits can accent your design and style.

2. Experience: While there are many talented emerging photographers out there, it's important to consider the experience level of your photographer. Experienced photographers will have a better understanding of lighting, composition, and other technical aspects that can make a big difference in the final product. You also need to take into account the experience that they have, for example, a senior photographer isn't going to be the best at newborn photography. And an outdoor photographer isn’t going to be the best at studio photography. When looking at their work, make sure the style is steady throughout all their pictures. Check out their social media, if their recent shoots or sessions don’t match up with their website, quality-wise, grab the best image from their site and do a google image search to make sure that image does represent their work.

3. Reviews and Recommendations: Look for reviews and recommendations from previous clients to get an idea of the photographer's professionalism, reliability, and quality of work. You can also ask friends and family for referrals. Check out their Google reviews, but we recommend going to Yelp for the photographer’s reviews. At Yelp the reviews are vetted and ensure that the review is coming from a consumer that has used that person before. Sometimes Google reviews can be tarnished with paid reviews, so make sure that the reviews you base your decision on aren’t a bot, or even a family member to ensure that you are getting a good look at the service you are preparing to invest in.

4. Pricing: Of course, pricing is an important factor to consider when choosing a photographer. However, it's important to remember that quality photography is an investment. Many photographers offer packages that include a set number of hours, prints, and/or digital images. Be sure to compare prices and packages from several photographers to find one that fits your budget and needs. If you have questions about pricing, call the photographer that you are interested in and ask exactly how much their products and services cost. If you feel that the photographer you want is overpriced, please take into account that every photographer puts different extras in their portrait experience and has different experience levels and different overheads that have to be reached to continue their business. If the photographer is outside of your budget, it’s completely okay, it’s not personal, there are other photographers out there that will be in your price range and will work with you!!

5. Personality: Finally, consider the photographer's personality. You want someone who is personable, easy to work with, and who makes you and your family feel comfortable in front of the camera. A good photographer should listen to your needs and preferences and offer suggestions to help you capture the best possible photos. When you find the perfect photographer for your family, be sure to communicate your expectations and vision for the photoshoot. With the right photographer, you can create beautiful memories that will last a lifetime.

Devon & Mya's Wedding Day

The privilege of traveling with my daughter Shea, to Cincinnati to cover a beautiful wedding. We were both excited to be a part of such a special day and to capture all the amazing moments. Upon arriving, we were warmly welcomed by the bride and groom's families, we got to see old friends and a pretty amazing bunny operation by the Bride’s father and his son. Everyone was so friendly and hospitable that we felt right at home. The bride, Mya, looked stunning in her dress with perfect hair and makeup. It was evident that she and her groom, Devon, were deeply in love. Their happiness and excitement were contagious and made the atmosphere even more special. During the ceremony, we were moved by the heartfelt vows that Devon had written for Mya and Grayson. It heart warming and tear-jerking moment, and we felt honored to capture it on camera. Throughout the day, we were impressed by how flawlessly everything ran. You could tell that a lot of time and effort had been put into planning every detail of this special day. Overall, we had an amazing time covering this beautiful wedding in Cincinnati. We were grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such a significant event, and we wished the bride and groom all the best for a long an happy marriage. Jeremy and Katelyn Wedding

We had such an amazing time capturing Katelyn and Jeremy’s Wedding this past Saturday. It was a refreshing feeling because we didn’t know if weddings were going to be back in the cards at the studio after COVID-19 cancellations and such. But feeling that cool fall weather and watching Katelyn and Jeremy in their excitement leading up to this day… I am so glad weddings are back on… This beautiful intimate wedding took place at the Southern Charm Venue and besides that, the bride and groom were extremely involved in the wedding preparation by decorating, and even catering their event. With a friend of the family providing a beautiful wedding cake, this event was top notch. Thanks so much for sharing your day with Shea and I, it was really a touching and emotionally amazing experience. I know that this is just the beginning of an already inspiring love story.

Forth of July Fun in 2021

Original-1 copy.jpg
Maci Firework Social Sample.jpg

Here is some family fun from Saturday Night with our Fireworks Celebration:) So at the cook out, my niece decided to model for me... But me, being the absent minded person that I am only had my camera, lenses and 1 SB-910 light... So it was time to go straight McGiver (#80sreference). So I asked my step dad to use his expensive high beam flashlight on moon light mode, and I took a ziplock bag and colored it red with a marker in hopes I would catch a red fire work... Dark pink was close enough, so here is the final product:) Special thanks to the following companies that are represneted in the video:

Nikon- still waiting on that ambassador call... but its cool imaging.nikon.com

Sigma- your art lenses rock, anytime you want me to test them I am DOWN to CLOWN!!!- Old person reference. www.sigmaphoto.com/lenses/art

Introducing Mr. and Mrs. Phelan!!! Emma & Chris's Wedding Day

topper.jpg

What a FUN wedding!!! Emma and Chris officially tied the knot on June 13th, after postponements due to COVID. But they say the best things in life are worth waiting for, and whoever “they is” they weren’t lying. You guys were a blast and your wedding was absolutely beautiful, of course the Venue always is… But aside from the beauty of the decorations, dresses and flowers… I would have to say the best part of your wedding would be family!!! We got to meet so many of you and and have great conversations… I even had a conversation with the brides father about HVAC… Which was really on point since with humidity it felt like 110 degrees. But it was like God smiled down on Chris and Emma as the humid air gave way to a cooler evening during the reception, so the party was on!! Obviously the kids stole the show, showcasing various skills such as singing, and dancing and most of the time both… On a side note, there was a little girl there that was KILLING the vocals, and like Shea said, “she has such a great stage presence….” She was no more than 3 or 4 years old, and she had the mic in front of everyone just belting out those notes as she walked back and forth giving the fans their eye contact evenly throughout the crowd… Ill be looking for her on the Disney Channel, that’s for sure!!!

All in all it was a great wedding and so much fun to be a part of, Emma and her Mom did a fantastic job as they pulled double duty as the wedding planners and coordinators, so you know right then and there, that they are both extra strong at multitasking. My final thought would have to be about the food, I dont normally eat much at weddings due to taking a ton of other’s photos with their mouths full of food, but OMG, your caterer was OFF THE HOOK!!! That beef melted in my mouth, comment her name so I can give her some credit, it was sOOooooOOOO GOOD!!! Enjoy your pictures, and check out the link to all your pictures below to see your online gallery:)

Give the Gift of a Memory to Emma and Chris

Here is something new that we do for our brides and grooms, let’s face it, we live in a digital age, but NOTHING will ever take the place of holding something in your hand. Imagine the future, your sitting with your daughter as you plan her wedding… and you pull out a memory card? No way, we want better for our bride and grooms at Image Photography. So right now we are giving friends and family the opportunity to help Emma and Chris get a BEAUTIFUL wedding album that is custom created by us and printed up of long lasting UV coasted premium papers. Their album will tell their story or their day… They will be able to look back whenever they would like and relive that amazing day all those years ago. And they will have you to thank for it… Donations start at only $10!!! So let’s give the best gift anyone can give… the gift of a memory!!!! As a bonus, I am matching dollar for dollar on every donation, getting them to their dream album twice as fast:)

Katelyn and Jeremy Engagement Session

What an amazing session Shea and I had with Katelyn and Jeremy. It was like the perfect day, wrapped up in the perfect date and then topped with a cherry!! I can not wait to photograph their wedding this fall. So when I photograph and engagement session, I treat it like a date night, so what better way to start a date than at the best custard and coffee stand in the area, Nana’s on Hixson Pike. I treated our two love birds to a banana split and then watched to see if they were ready for the “sharing factor” of marriage. I’m happy to say that they passed with flying colors!!! Take a look!!!

Guy Engagement 1.jpg
Guy Engagement 2.jpg

After the ice creamed AWESOMENESS, it was time to take a stroll downtown were an older concrete stair case caught my eye. It looked terribly romantic and was perfect for our happy go lucky couple!! A couple kissing poses, and the occasional, “Don’t make me hose you off!!!” threats and we captured some pretty nice shots. Check them out and let me know what you think in the comments below:)

Guy Engagement 3.jpg

So as we left the stairs, and turned left around the corner to head back to our vehicles… I saw a perceptive that caught my eye, so I wiped out my Sigma Art 135 1.8 lens and caught these shots of them, being them… Don’t get me wrong, I love posed shots, but nothing is better than a couple just being themselves. Here are some samples from that stop.

It was time to head to our third and final location. Katelyn had showed my her outfit, a cute little sun dress and Jeremy was rocking out the button up look. So if you notice, I love takes outfits out of context to create a exceptional shot that draws the attention straight to the subject of the photograph. For example, their first outfit was very casual, laid back… so we went downtown, somewhere that you wouldn’t see laid back casual outfits, mostly business suites and fancy clothing for a night out… Well with this outfit, the perfect place came to mind. So we headed up Hixson Pike, back toward my studio to the BEAUTIFUL Field, next door. Take a look at the lighting that we captured as Golden hour was on its way:)

Guy Engagement 5.jpg

Last but certainly not least, while in the field, Shea and I decided to set up are stone flashes to create a more dramatic feel as the sun was continuing its journey down. After making out adjustments to the light power and settings, we captured a ton of great shots. Here are some samples from the more dramatic lighting in the field.

Guy Engagement 6.jpg

All and all we had such great time and would like to thank Katelyn and Jeremy for choosing Shea and I to capture this special time in their life. Photography Composite Art "The Sandlot"

Drummond Baseball Compsite Logo.jpg

One of my favorite works of literature comes from Arthur O'Shaughnessy and his poem, Ode. I first learned of this poem while watching the original Charlie and the Chocolate factory, Willie Wonka, played by Gene Wilder said, "We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams...". That really spoke to me, not because of the magical chocolate and goodies that were covering the faces, I mean you could please anyone with a chocolate bar… But the world that was created, that someone sat down with just an idea and a dream and created a reality. In art, its the very same thing… When I sit down to an image, here's a little secret... I have no idea where I am going with editing... I just like to see where the art takes me... When I took this shot, I had no idea of how the end product would turn out, I had no idea where the image would take me. Here is the original, good lighting, good exposure and a good expression by the subject.

DSC_5819.jpg

AdobeStock_37743718.jpeg
AdobeStock_278868368.jpeg
AdobeStock_92999802.jpeg

Then we added this images in various spots, fixed up the sky a little, and after an hour or so of photoshop… Here is the finished product, LJ is 12 years old and playing for the Hellcats All-Star Team this year in Hixson and I am submitting this image to the International Print Competition when it opens up this year for the Professional Photographers of America, and at the East Tennessee Professional Photographers Salon Competition. Tell me what you think about it, all feedback is welcome:) I would like to call this piece of artwork “the Sandlot”….

I hope you enjoy the image and feel free to comment below and let me know what you think. I will be posting more of these images along with the video of their editing right here on my blog. So check back from time to time:)
